The Garendon Gallop 10K 2025

The Garendon Gallop 10K race is on Sunday, 3rd August 2025, and will start at 10:30 am at Charnwood College, Loughborough LE11 4SQ.

This one-lap course is measured at 10K with a full licence and chip timed. The course is off-road, mainly on track, private roads and playing fields. The course passes the Triumphal Arch, the Obelisk and the Temple of Venus. These are all 18th-century historical monuments in Garendon Park, private land between Shepshed and Loughborough.

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the site of Garendon Park. This is the former site of a Cistercian Abbey, founded in 1133 and dissolved by King Henry VIII in 1536. It also includes Garendon Hall, which was reduced to rubble in June 1964.

Garendon Park is a large country park in the borough of Charnwood, Leicestershire, England. It is owned and managed by the Earl of Garendon, a title held by the Baring family since 1607. The park covers an area of just over 100 hectares and contains a variety of habitats, including parkland, woodland, grassland, ponds and canals. Several historic buildings are located within the grounds, including Garendon Hall, an 18th-century Grade I listed mansion, and the ruins of the 12th-century Garendon Abbey. A network of private footpaths and bridleways provides access to the park and the surrounding countryside. This is a rare opportunity to visit this unique area.

The Garendon 10K suits all abilities, from complete novices to experienced athletes. Plenty of marshals are around the course to cheer you on and ensure you stay safe. There will also be water stations and toilets around the course. The event is organised by Garendon 10K and is one of Leicestershire's most popular 10K races. Water stations along this 10k route are on the course, and the race is fully marshalled. There are prizes for various categories. All race entries will receive a t-shirt. The venue has car parks, toilets and changing facilities.

All entries will be awarded a technical t-shirt. The prizes are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for males and females. Also, 1st male and female age categories are over 30s, the '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s.

Early bird entry fees: £15 affiliated and £17 unaffiliated (early bird runs until 28th February 2025 - prices will then increase to £18 affiliated and £20 unaffiliated). This is a fantastic course, which all participants in the previous years have enjoyed. The historic monuments incorporated into the race, the beautiful surroundings, and the traffic-free route make this race spectacular.
